Dr. Ethan Stark, Evanston Therapist

Providing therapy to Evanston children, adolescents, and adults.

"I believe that a strong, supportive therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of all change. Therefore, I practice primarily from a Rogerian Client-Centered perspective, emphasizing empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness. I also incorporate behavioral interventions and elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

"With children and some adolescents I employ non-directive play therapy. Because I believe that healthy parent-child relationships are paramount to a child's functioning, I am careful to involve a child's caregivers in the therapeutic process at all times, so that they can fully support the child as he or she practices their newly gained coping skills outside of the office.

"As a trans man, I find myself in a somewhat unique position to provide competent, compassionate, understanding care to those exploring their gender identity or presentation, as well as those who identify as trans or gender diverse.”

Children and adolescents coping with anxiety, mood concerns, behavioral issues, autism spectrum related concerns, LGBTQ concerns.
